Data AI Search works in Claude as a custom connector: one URL, nothing to install. Once it's on, Claude can read your brand's Insights, AI Visibility Audit and Website Audit, and run audits for you, from any chat in claude.ai or the Claude desktop app.

Connect Claude to Data AI Search

    Copy your server URL

    Sign in to the Data AI Search dashboard, open Integrations → MCP and copy the server URL. Your API key is already in it.

    Add a custom connector

    In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector. Name it Data AI Search, paste the URL and click Add. Leave the OAuth fields under Advanced settings empty: the key in the URL signs you in.

    Turn it on in a chat

    Start a new chat, open the + menu → Connectors and switch Data AI Search on. Ask "Which brands can you see in Data AI Search?" to check the connection.

Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your own key, or copy the full URL from Integrations → MCP in the Data AI Search dashboard, where it is already filled in. The URL is the key: anyone who has it can read your workspace and spend its credits.

What Claude can do with your data

The server has three tools, one per pillar. Each takes a brand name; ask about a brand the workspace doesn't have and the tool replies with the names it does have.

    Read-only. The real questions your brand's buyers ask AI, how AI answers them, who it names instead of you, keywords and segments.

Before you rely on it

  • Claude asks before it calls a tool. Choose Allow always only for brand_insights, which only reads. Keep approving the audit tools one call at a time, because setting up or running an audit spends credits.
  • Claude connects from Anthropic's servers, not from your computer, so once the connector is added it works the same in the browser, the desktop app and on mobile.
  • A connector can't be edited. To change the URL, for example after you rotate your API key, remove it in Settings → Connectors and add it again.
  • Every call uses credits from the workspace the key belongs to: 1 credit to read, and the dashboard's own price to run prompts or start an audit.
If it doesn't connect
Claude says it couldn't connect
Check that the URL ends in ?api_key= followed by your key, with no spaces. Copy it again from Integrations → MCP.
"MCP integrations aren't available on your plan"
The workspace is on the Free plan. Upgrade to Starter or higher and ask again; you don't need to re-add the connector.
"Insufficient API credits"
The workspace has no credits left. Top up, or wait for the monthly credits to renew.

Check that the connector is switched on for this chat (+ → Connectors), and name the brand in your question.

Claude and Data AI Search: questions

Does it work with Claude's free plan?

Yes. Claude Free allows one custom connector, which is all you need. On the Data AI Search side you need a paid plan, because MCP isn't part of Data AI Search Free.

Can my whole team use it?

On Claude Team or Enterprise, an Owner adds the connector once for the organisation and each member connects to it. Everyone then uses the same Data AI Search workspace and its credits, so share the URL only with people who should see that workspace.

Is it read-only?

brand_insights only reads. The two audit tools can also change things: set up an AI Visibility audit, add or run prompts, start or re-run a Website Audit and mark action items. Claude shows you each call before it runs it.

Does it work in Claude Desktop?

Yes. A custom connector added in claude.ai is available in the Claude desktop app too, so you don't need to edit claude_desktop_config.json.
